September 22, 2008 Update

Hello,
I am doing better and better everyday. Today I cooked oatmeal and took the bus to UVM. It is weird riding the bus because I used to just bike everywhere. On the bus, a man came up to me and started talking to me. He had heard about the accident and had sent me a card even though I didn't know him. I really appreciate everyone's support. You know I am a very social person so it helps a lot. I like to read all the posts and email and really appreciate getting news about anything.

Rose!

I just recently heard about your accident! How terrible! I hope that you recover asap!

...I can still remember the first time I ever met you...I believe it was your first ECCC race...we were in the Rutgers parking lot and I couldn't stop staring at you becuase I was amazed by your crazy "rollers-skills." I introduced myself and pretty soon we were buds in Women's B. However, you quickly surpassed my cycling abilities and moved up to Women's A where you proceeded to become a force to be reckoned with!

Well, I just wanted to say hello and wish you a speedy recovery. I heard that you're going to get some new teeth and a new bike, so not all is lost, right??

Get better soon!

Sincerely,
Lauren Peck (Penn State)

Dear Rosa Larga!

We've all been thinking of you tons
here and planning a famous NON dress up day for you. Glad to hear that you are up and around and that you now know how loved and special you are. Sometimes it takes something really bad to realize something really good. We are all better off in the world with YOU IN IT! Take care,
Love Adrienne D'Olimpio

Hi Rose,

We've never met but I heard about your accident and made a donation that I hope will help. I grew up in New Hampshire and know your area well. I'm a triathlete and understand your love for racing and bikes.

Get well soon and peanut butter in your oatmeal is super yummy!

Glad to see things are progressing well. I've been trying to send you some positive vibes since the accident from over here in Maine. (vibe transmitting now--did you feel that?) May you continue to improve so that you don't have to take that bus anymore--too funny.

All the best,
Zach Magoon (Team Bikeman)

Rose,

We met briefly at the Mount Snow (Root 66) race this summer. I just wanted to let you know that my wife and I have been wishing you well. I hope that you are recovering and will be back on the bike soon.

Best wishes,

Rose,
I have thought of you many times on my commute from Underhill to Burlington on my bike. I have written Gay Symington about the need for bike legislation in an attempt to increase awareness of the needs of cyclists in our state. I think we are all hoping for some positive change as a result of what you have been through. CO2 emissions, obestiy, dependence on forgein oil can all be helped by the bike. My family and I always like seeing you race at the MTB races. Hopefully we will see you at the Ski Rack or at some ski races this winter. As I have told my twin boys, always respect a girl who can spank the boys on a bike!
Keep getting stronger and we hope the donations can help.

Hey Rose,
Glad to hear you are improving!Might not remember me, but we've met a few times on the mtb race circuit (surprise). I was an expert and you were barely racing yet; I think it was some "Flower Power" series in VT. Anyway, you kicked my butt! Then you moved to Maine and joined Bikeman (we were team mates, but seldom saw each other for what ever reasons). Sounds like your VT strings were being stretched a little too much and you headed back.Regardless, thinking of you and sending warm wishes for a speedy recovery!Alyssa, Bikeman

Rose,
When I picked up the Vermont Cynic last week and saw your pic on the front page my heart stopped. This is because I heard about an accident but had no clue it was somebody that I knew. I was in shock the rest of that day.
I hope that you are getting better and regaining strength every single day and that you can get back to riding as soon as possible.
Best of luck,
Chris Shackett
